IT Salaries in the UK falling report CV Screen

A comprehensive study by the IT Recruitment specialist CV Screen has found that permanent IT Salaries in the UK have fallen by 1% over the last 12 months, with the average salary for an IT professional now £36,092.

The in-depth analysis of the IT Jobs market looks at 50 different IT roles and monitored over 6,000 advertised positions in the UK during Q1 2009.

CV Screen’s Matthew Iveson commented “It is clear that demand for IT professionals has fallen dramatically and with unemployment rising we have found that candidates are now being more realistic with their salary expectations."

Iveson continued “There are some bright spots where demand remains strong especially for candidates with strong .Net, SharePoint, Java or PHP skills.”

With regards to the outlook for the rest of 2009, Iveson commented “The current recession in the UK has seen salaries fall. We would anticipate that salaries will remain stagnant over the next 12/18 months when confidence returns to the industry."
