Social Media Manager Job Description

Job Overview

A Social Media Manager is responsible for improving and developing the social media presence for the company. The Social Media Manager will take an active responsibility for outlining the strategy and output for the social media channel, concentrating specifically on Facebook and Twitter. Whilst playing a pivotal role in identifying the gaps and opportunities that exist in the channel and make strong recommendations on future strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and influence the direction of social media strategy
  • Take active responsibility for the look, feel, and development of the company’s Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook Channels
  • Manage day-to-day social media campaigns involving competition ideas, opinion polls, editorial content, and all blog and posting activity
  • Ensure the company regularly ‘tweets’ and posts all relevant and topical updates
  • Proactively monitor and respond to questions and comments generated through all social media channels
  • Continually monitor the companies competitor base and use this information to develop and benchmark the brand’s social media output
  • Help develop a process that sees the social media presence become a 24/7 customer engagement channel
  • Work closely with the SEO, online marketing and affiliate marketing teams to help co-ordinate all integrated online output

  • Proven experience within social media
  • Strong editorial and verbal skills
  • Ability to work flexible working patterns to meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to continually improve and enhance the company’s social media output
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, pressured environment
  • Strong presentation and negotiating skills
